Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 7 July 2026

1. What bribes.fyi is

bribes.fyi is a free, crowdsourced platform where citizens can anonymously report bribes paid or refused to Indian government departments and officials. The data is aggregated into department rankings, city breakdowns, and service-level statistics to promote transparency. We do not charge for submissions and do not sell user data.

2. Report accuracy: submit genuine experiences only

By submitting a report, you confirm that it reflects a genuine, first-hand experience to the best of your knowledge. This is a free public-interest platform, and knowingly submitting false, exaggerated, or fabricated information undermines the data for everyone and does not help anyone. We reserve the right to remove, reject, or flag any report that appears fabricated, spam, defamatory, or in violation of these terms, and to suspend access for repeated abuse.

3. Anonymity & data handling

Reports are submitted anonymously. We do not require an account, and we never store your raw IP address; it is one-way hashed with a daily-rotating salt purely for spam and abuse prevention. Do not include your own or anyone else’s personal information (names, phone numbers, addresses) in a report; such details may be removed or the report rejected.

4. Analytics & behavior tracking

We use aggregate analytics (page views) and a heatmap/session-replay tool to understand how visitors use the site and improve it. This tracking is never active on the report submission page, so how you fill out a report is never recorded.

5. Moderation

Every submitted report is reviewed before it appears publicly. We use automated checks (statistical outlier detection, duplicate-content and rate-limit checks) alongside manual review. Approval does not constitute verification of the underlying facts beyond these checks; reports reflect the submitter’s account of events.

6. No legal advice, no guarantee of outcome

bribes.fyi is an information and transparency tool, not a law firm or government body. Any complaint-letter templates or links to official anti-corruption portals (CVC/ACB) are provided for convenience only and do not constitute legal advice. We do not guarantee that filing a report or complaint will result in any investigation or action.

7. Public & permanent data

Approved reports become part of a public dataset and are displayed indefinitely to preserve the integrity of the historical record, though we may remove individual reports that violate these terms or applicable law. Aggregate statistics derived from reports may be cited, shared, or reused publicly.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Continued use of bribes.fyi after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

9. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to data@bribes.fyi.
